AXILINE contacts: how to order balancing or vibration diagnostics

The fastest way to get an answer: a WhatsApp message with photos of the machine and a couple of lines about the problem. Enquiries are handled by the engineers who design and manufacture the Balanset instruments and balance with them on site themselves, so any follow-up questions will be to the point. We're based in Vila Nova de Gaia near Porto, and we work across all of Portugal.

How to get an answer faster

Write to us on WhatsApp and give us the data straight away, not just 'it's vibrating, come out.' Without figures and photos we can't assess either feasibility or price, and the conversation turns into a long back-and-forth of questions. One detailed message with photos saves a day, sometimes more.

We don't promise specific response hours: enquiries are read by the same engineers who may be standing next to a machine on site at that moment. If it's urgent, call. If the engineer doesn't pick up, send a WhatsApp message — it won't get lost.

What happens after you send an enquiry

    Reviewing your data

    An engineer looks at the photos, the video and the description of the symptom. Often, at this stage alone, it's already clear whether it's unbalance or, for example, shaft misalignment or a bearing fault.

    Follow-up questions

    We ask about whatever's missing for a decision: access to the correction plane (the spot on the rotor where the weights go), how stable the running speed is, and the conditions on site.

    Assessing feasibility and pricing

    We tell you plainly whether we'll take the job and exactly what we'll do. We work out the cost from the package for your rotor size, from S to XL, including travel and any extra options.

  4. 04

    Agreeing on a window

    We choose the date and the window for trial runs together with you. Starting the work requires a 50% advance payment.

  5. 05

    The visit and work on site

    A measurement before the work, balancing in the machine's own bearings (no removal, right in its own standard bearings), and a check measurement afterwards. If the measurements show the cause isn't unbalance, we'll say so right away, not after a series of pointless runs.

Service area and logistics

Our base is in Vila Nova de Gaia, near Porto. We travel across all of Portugal. The first 20 km from the base are included in the package, and beyond that travel is charged at 0.60 EUR per kilometre, round trip. The minimum invoice per visit is 500 EUR, and we're on site for a minimum of 4 hours. All prices exclude VAT.

When planning the window, keep in mind that balancing needs several starts and stops of the machine at running speed. Agree in advance, within your own shift, on who controls the runs — otherwise part of the paid time will go to waiting around.

If you need the instrument, not a visit

We sell the Balanset instruments through the same contacts. The Balanset-1A costs 1975 EUR plus VAT, and the OEM version without the case is 1735 EUR plus VAT. The kit: two vibration sensors, a laser phase sensor, a two-channel USB module, and Windows software with balancing in one and two planes, an FFT spectrum, and a report archive. The instrument is also sold through the AXILINE eBay shop.

What we won't tell you without data

We don't make a diagnosis from the phrase 'the machine is shaking', and we don't give an exact price until we know the rotor's mass, its running speed, and the access conditions. Anyone who does otherwise is guessing. We'll give you the package range straight away, and the exact amount once we've reviewed your data.

And one more thing about honesty: if your video and measurements show that the vibration isn't caused by unbalance but by shaft misalignment, loose fasteners or a bearing, we won't sell you balancing. We'll tell you what needs fixing, and how we can help on the vibration-diagnostics side.

Frequently asked questions

I don't know the running speed or the rotor's mass. What should I send?

Send a photo of the electric motor's nameplate, an overall shot of the machine, and something for scale next to the rotor. We'll take the running speed from the nameplate, estimate the mass from the dimensions and type of machine, and clarify the rest with follow-up questions.

Do you give a price straight away over the phone?

We give you the package range right away: it's tied to the rotor's power and mass, from S for machines up to 15 kW or 50 kg, to XL for rotors heavier than 2 tonnes. We work out the exact amount after reviewing your data, taking into account the distance, a second correction plane, and other options. The minimum invoice per visit is 500 EUR + VAT.

Do you only work around Porto?

No, we travel across all of Portugal. Our base is in Vila Nova de Gaia, the first 20 km are included in the package price, and beyond that it's 0.60 EUR per kilometre, round trip.

Do I need to stop the machine before you arrive?

No. For the measurement we need the machine running at a stable working speed. But during balancing the machine will need to be stopped several times to fit the weights and started again, so in your enquiry, tell us the window for the runs and who will be controlling them.

Can I buy the Balanset-1A without ordering a visit?

Does your engineer weld on the weights, or does our own staff?

Both options work. Fitting the weights with your own staff is included in the package. If AXILINE fits the weights: without welding, plus 150 EUR per rotor; with welding, plus 400 EUR per rotor (a second specialist is needed). Tell us which option you need in your enquiry — it affects both the price and the size of the team.

Prices: vibration diagnostics and balancing, priced separately

Vibration diagnostics for one machine, with a finding and a written report, costs 300 EUR. If balancing turns out to be feasible, it's added by rotor size: S +250, M +450, L +700, XL from +1200 EUR — a total of 550 to 1500 EUR and up per machine, in one or two planes at no extra charge. If balancing isn't possible — for example because of damaged bearings — you pay only for the diagnostics and travel, and you get a report with the cause of the vibration. The minimum invoice per visit is 500 EUR, and all prices exclude VAT.

Balancing and vibration diagnostics services: where to start in your case

We do four things. We balance rotors right on site, in their own bearing housings, without removal. We run vibration diagnostics when the cause of raised vibration isn't obvious. We measure and analyse vibration for acceptance after repairs and for condition monitoring. We supply Balanset-1A instruments to those who want to balance in-house, with consultation support while they learn the ropes. If you already know you have unbalance, start with balancing. If you don't know the cause, start with diagnostics: it costs less than three wasted trial runs and a second visit.

On-site rotor balancing, in the machine's own bearing housings

On-site balancing means the rotor stays in the machine. We fit two accelerometers (vibration sensors) on the bearing housings, aim a laser phase sensor at a reflective marker, take the initial vibration reading, run one or two trials with a weight of known mass, calculate the correction mass and angle, fit the weights and measure again. You get a report with the figures before and after. A typical visit takes a working day; vibration diagnostics with a report costs 300 EUR per unit, balancing adds from 250 EUR, and the minimum invoice per visit is 500 EUR.
